Three simple rules for stainless steel

Most of us view stainless steel as a great option for the kitchen. But how much do you know about stainless steel? Because of the metals stainless steel is comprised of, it's resistant to rust and discoloration. However, it's no Man of Steel...(that's a Superman reference, in case you aren't a fan).

If you've chosen stainless steel (or it's been chosen for you...) here are some tips to make life a little easier and more beautiful.

Do know that it's not carefree

Stainless steel may be resistant to run and discoloration, but it's not immune to corrosion if you're careful about the types of foods and minerals that are left in sinks. Have a stainless steel fridge or stove? Then you probably suffer from perpetual fingerprints, streak marks, and general grime.

It's also not scratch resistant

Take as good of care of your stainless steel appliances and utilities as you would other metals. Scratches and dents are common, and especially noticeable after the first time your appliances are properly cleaned. This also means that you should never use abrasive sponges or cleaners (like bleach).

Be ready to invest in the right tools

Using the right cleaning tools for stainless steel makes a world of difference! The TLC team uses industry tested and client approved stainless steel cleaning solutions, plus soft cloths and water to make sure your appliances shine. If it's your first time using TLC or you're tackling the job yourself, don't be surprised if your shiny kitchen appears dented or scratched- when years of stainless steel cleaner residue and grime is removed, scratches that weren't visible before may appear.

If it all sounds a little daunting, call or e-mail us and get on a regular, stress-free schedule of clean.
